Zwentendorf, Nuclear Power Plant: The Control Room May 29, 2012
This is the first of a series of posts with pictures I took at the Zwentendorf Nuclear Power Plant. If you don’t know anything about this site you may want to hop over to Wikipedia to learn more. In short: In the 1970s Austria’s government decided to build a nuclear power plant and right before it went online a referendum was held deciding weather or not to use nuclear power in Austria. 50.5% of the population voted against nuclear power, turning the plant into a spare parts source and a training facility for similar plants in other countries like Germany or India. Visiting the plant is an interesting experience, since it’s very much conserved in the state of 1978. Since no nuclear fuel ever entered the facility, one can even take a look at the inner and outer containment.

St. Marx Cemetery May 21, 2012
From a few weeks ago, another set of shots I took on Rollei RPX 400 exposed at EI 100, a setting I stumbled upon by thinking I loaded Ektar 100 in the camera. If you happen to visit vienna, I can highly recommend paying the St. Marx Cemetery a visit, its an intriguing place.

long break May 8, 2012
So between exams and other university stuff I did not get to putting up a post. Here is my first digital infrared, taken with an unmodified Olympus Pen E-P1 and an Hoya R72.

Efke IR 820 Aura April 23, 2012
First roll, trying to get my head around infrared, in anticipation of a workshop we will hold at the metalab next month. Shot with an Olympus OM 2, Hoya R72 filter, 28mm lens. I tried metering through the lens/filter and set the camera to ISO 100. The Film came out very thin, I’ll probably will rate it ISO 25 next time. Still, there is enough on there to post some pictures. Actually 6 of them (making this a larger post by recent standards), all shot in Vienna in a small residential area right next to the UNO City.

I still do not own a macro lens. I sometimes use one of my old lenses (most of which I got from the flea market) held in reverse in front of my camera. This works surprisingly well, but focusing is kind of hard (just wiggle forward and back). Just be careful and try not to get too much dust inside the camera :P.
This image was shot in this way, I’ts a water plant currently living on my window sill.

Another first roll, this time I tried a film the other end of the spectrum: Velvia 50. And I have to say, holding those medium format positives in your hand is impressive, the colors are incredibly vivid.
